Logo and Slogan
The logo and slogan of Rock Presbyterian Church speak volumes about the nature of our community. First and foremost, we are a community of faith that values our belief in Jesus Christ above all else. We know that we need God’s love and we experience the Holy Spirit in our midst when we gather. The love of Christ is clearly evident in the incredible sense of family in our congregation. Visitors are treated with the same care as life long members and each person is welcomed into God’s large and joyous family as they enter the doors of Rock. Lastly, our church is named after a large rock that sits on our property. The foundation of the church is literally on Rock! Every time we walk out the front door and see the rock in front of us, we are reminded of the firm foundation that God provides for our lives. Rock is the place to learn about that foundation and to build upon it.
The logo itself represents these three concepts. The cross represents how our faith is foremost in our lives and in our church. The church represents the family of God gathered to worship. The rock represents the foundation that we build our lives upon.
Our Vision
Rock Presbyterian Church has based it’s vision on extensive work done through the Presbyterian Mission Study. Below you will see some of our hopes and dreams for our church.
- We react to our personal joy in the knowledge of our redemption through the blood of our Savior Jesus Christ by proclaiming God’s gift of salvation for all to the community in which we live.
- We celebrate God’s Word as we rejoice in worship and fellowship at Rock by sponsoring family, youth, and senior activities
- We will encourage and empower our church family to provide strong congregational leadership by utilizing individual talents and the resources of the PCUSA
- We will consistently evaluate the spiritual and physical needs of the congregation and community and will proactively address these needs by offering relevant programs and services
Christian Education
We desire to increase the commitment and involvement of the current congregation, and encourage growing participation from the surrounding community in the CE programs of Rock.
We will implement these plans by:
- Restructuring the Sunday School Program
- Establishing a youth fellowship program
- Providing more opportunities for adult education and Bible study
- Leading summer Bible school
Mission
There are many avenues of mission to open and explore, including:
- Being more involved, personally and financially, in local, regional, and global mission trips, either as a Rock sponsored program or in conjunction with other local churches or PC USA
- Encouraging members of our congregation and community to go into Christian Ministry and providing resources for their education
